In questa sezione di ARCH'IT proponiamo una selezione dei concorsi di architettura, design e media design più stimolanti del momento, scelti all'interno di un panorama nazionale ed internazionale attraverso canali selezionati e in collaborazione con International Competitions Network (ICN). Il lettore troverà qui di seguito i concorsi di prossima scadenza, presentati concisamente in tutti i loro punti essenziali. Per ogni concorso abbiamo attivato una serie di link che permettono la consultazione dei bandi in formato integrale, del sito degli enti banditori e, in un secondo momento, dei risultati del concorso. Riflessioni generali e commenti specifici sono invece raccolti all'interno del forum.

Italia. Participants wishing to present a paper in accordance with the themes and topics are invited to submit a 200-300 word abstract in English without illustrations. The abstract should summarize the contents of the paper and clearly indicate the specific relevance to the themes of the Conference. The themes are the following: "Exploring theories, methodologies, application case studies of urban design in contemporary forms of our sprawled cities and metropolitan landscapes. We are looking for research papers and viewpoints that focus on the major themes of Urban Hybridization, that are directly related to the urban and architectural design".

USA. All students, architects, engineers, and designers are invited to participate to this competition. The main idea of the contest is to examine the relationship between the skyscraper and the natural world, the skyscraper and the community and the skyscraper and urban living. In the last few years we have seen hundreds of new skyscrapers been developed around the world without careful consideration to the context or environment. There is a constant lack of urban planning and poor architectural design without intellectual or perceptual enjoyment. The aim of the competition is to push our imagination to redefine the term skyscraper through the use of new materials, technology, aesthetics, programs, and spatial organizations. Globalization, environmental warming, flexibility, adaptability, and the digital revolution are just some of the multi-layered elements that should be taken in consideration. There are no restrictions in regards to site, program or size. The objective is to provide maximum freedom to propose the most innovative projects for this fascinating architectural genre. Ultimately, the designs should help the environment, restructure our cities and improve our way of life. 1st place: US $2000.

Italia. Il concorso è aperto ad artisti, designer, architetti, ingegneri, sia studenti (Junior) che professionisti (Senior), chiamati a investire creatività e talento in opere e progetti innovativi che cerchino di ricreare l’equilibrio perduto dell’ecosistema Uomo-Casa-Ambiente, in un'armonica integrazione tra sostenibilità ambientale, natura, ambiente urbano e benessere umano. Il corsorso si articola in tre sezioni: Arte, Design e Architettura-Ingegneria, ogni sezione a sua volta suddivisa in due categorie: Junior e Senior. Con un inedito meccanismo di work in progress, i partecipanti condivideranno con i visitatori del sito tutte le fasi evolutive del loro processo creativo, fino all'opera completa. I progetti migliori saranno inseriti in tre cataloghi e riuniti in una collettiva, prevista nella primavera-estate 2010 in un prestigioso spazio espositivo di Milano. Al vincitore di ogni Sezione della Categoria Junior verrà assegnato un premio e/o una Borsa di studio da 5.000 euro al lordo delle tasse. Al vincitore di ogni Sezione della Categoria Senior verrà assegnato un premio e/o un contratto di lavoro da 4.000 euro al lordo delle tasse.
